Nirvana will have a film made about their UK concerts during the 'Nevermind' era

A documentary produced by the BBC is part of a special program about the album

Nirvana 's iconic album Nevermind turns 30 in September and will be featured in a special program on BBC International .

The broadcaster will produce a documentary for BBC 2 about the band's time in the UK called When Nirvana Came To Britain . Featuring the band's remaining members, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic , the film "tells the story of how, between 1989 and 1994, Nirvana introduced a new and exciting brand of rock to the UK, changing the musical landscape of the time and influencing a generation of young Britons."

From Nirvana's first UK tour, playing in small bars and venues, to their rise to stardom and appearances on television programs in the country, the documentary contains never-before-seen footage and home videos from the band themselves.

“The UK definitely responded to Nirvana much more, before America. You guys were the first with everything…”, Grohl commented about the project, which still has no trailer or release date outside of the channel's schedule.
