Rock fans who also follow the HBO comedy-drama series Succession were pleasantly surprised when watching the show's most recent episode – one of the scenes included the song "Rape Me" by Nirvana , one of the most popular tracks from In Utero (1993).
Last Tuesday, February 2nd, Courtney Love commented on the use of the song on her Twitter. As Kurt Cobain , Love is responsible for the singer's estate and, therefore, grants final permission for the use of his work. The artist has hesitated a lot before allowing the use of Cobain's music, but Succession seems to have been an immediate yes.
“I’ve never felt so good about approving the use of a Kurt song,” Courtney wrote. “You understood him. I’m sure he’s proud.” The artist ended with the cryptic comment: “Ask me who this song was written about someday. Maybe I’ll tell you.”
Along with her tweet, Courtney Love shared the clip of "Rape Me" being used in the series. Check it out:
