The Brazilian band Nine Red Moons releases the single “Sumerian Songs for the Dead”, available on streaming platforms and accompanied by a video on YouTube.

The track, heavily influenced by Queensrÿche and Iron Maiden , features a guitar solo incorporating excerpts from Mozart 's The Magic Flute . “The lyrics were inspired by Sumerian sayings from around 4100 BC, reflecting how this ancient civilization viewed life, the gods, and death. The Sumerians believed that the gods controlled everything, and death was understood as part of a destiny determined by these divine forces. I tried to capture the spiritual and resigned vision they had of existence,” explains the project's mastermind, guitarist Eduardo “Paulista” Simões (formerly of Chakal and Pit Passarell ), responsible for composing all the music and lyrics. “The cover, created by Jean Michel of Agência DSNS, depicts a Sumerian funeral mixed with elements that allude to the band's name,” he adds.

With compositions that follow the lines of traditional heavy metal, the group formed by musicians from Brazil, the USA, England, Poland and Greece recently completed the recordings of their debut EP, also titled Sumerian Songs for the Dead .

The project, which debuted with the single "No Man's Land," features vocalist Tasos Lazaris ( One Machine , Steel Arctus , and Iron Beast ) and includes guest appearances by Felipe Machado ( Viper ), Alan Wallace ( Eminence ), Edu Megale ( The Mist ), Juliano Dinelli ( Dream Theater Cover ), and producer Val Santos ( Brutal Brega , Toy Shop , ex-Viper).
