"I was out of my mind and probably exaggerated or made things up," the musician said about the rape case.

Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe told Rolling Stone that he doesn't remember the rape allegation in the band's biography. The book, The Dirt, recounts an incident in which he may have been involved in a sexual assault at a party.

“I don’t remember the story beyond what I read,” Sixx said. “I have no idea why it’s there, other than the fact that I was out of my mind and could have exaggerated or made it all up. Those words were irresponsible on my part. I apologize.”

In the book, written by the band with author Neil Strauss , Sixx recalls having sex with a woman at a party. The incident happened in a small room. Soon after, Sixx left the room, met up with his bandmate Tommy Lee, and tricked the woman about who she was having sex with. “'Dude, come here,' I grabbed him. 'There's a chick in this room. Follow me and don't say anything. When I tell you, start having sex with her.'”

“In the closet, I was standing directly behind Tommy,” Sixx continued. “He had sex with her for a while as she pulled my hair and yelled, ‘Oh, Nikki! Nikki!’”

He recounts that the following day, he didn't remember the incident until the woman called him and said she had been raped. She said the rapist was a guy who gave her a ride home. Sixx said this story made him realize he had "probably gone too far."

In a statement Sixx revealed to Rolling Stone , he said he didn't remember that particular story. But, that The Dirt was written at a "very low point in his life," when he was drinking and using drugs to cope with a breakup. "I honestly don't remember many of the interviews with Neil," he said.

“I went into rehab in 2001 and I really wish I had done the interviews after I was sober. There’s a lot of horrible behavior in the book. What I can say is that we all live to regret and learn a lot from everything that happened.”
