Decades will be released in March of this year.

Recently, Nightwish revealed that they will celebrate the band's twentieth anniversary with the release of a compilation album titled Decades.

The album will feature 22 of the most important tracks from the group's career, aiming to summarize their history for their fans and for those looking to hear the band for the first time.

To better explain the project, Nightwish released a trailer where keyboardist and founder Tuomas Holopainen talks about the creation process of the compilation and the importance of the album.

“I wanted to include the most essential Nightwish songs. 'The Greatest Show On Earth' needed to open the album. Songs like 'Ghost Love Score' and 'Dead Boy's Poem' needed to be there too. But then, the more obscure tracks like 'My Walden' and 'End Of All Hope' needed to be chosen to balance the tracklist ,” he explains in the trailer.

"If someone has never heard Nightwish and would like to get to know the band and understand what we've been through in the last twenty years, this album will be a great way to do so. That was my philosophy while choosing the tracks."

Thomas also revealed that in 2018 the band will go on tour to promote the compilation while they work on a new album of original songs, which has no release date yet.

Decades will be released on March 9th by Nuclear Blast and you can check out the tracklist and album cover below.
