Nightwish has released the official music video for “An Ocean Of Strange Islands,” the third single from their new album, Yesterwynde . The album is scheduled for release on September 20th via Nuclear Blast Records. This new release marks the band's tenth studio album, following Human. :II: Nature , from 2020.

After the pandemic, Nightwish returned to the stage in full force, but shortly after the post-pandemic tour, which included Brazil, vocalist Floor Jansen took a short break to treat cancer, surprising everyone. After treatment, she launched a solo project and announced a pregnancy. But nothing prevented her return to the stage with Nightwish, only having to take a break at the end of her pregnancy.

Tuomas Holopainen , keyboardist and principal composer of the band, describes the single as a track of "pure heaviness," with powerful guitars, epic orchestrations, and Floor Jansen's striking vocals.

The musician stated: “'An Ocean Of Strange Islands' is classic Nightwish at its best, taking the listener on a musical adventure through islands, and reminding us that happiness is most rewarding when shared.”

Nightwish's next steps

But despite the album's release, a promotional tour is not currently in the band's plans, according to Tuomas (via Blabbermouth) :

“Nightwish will not be doing a world tour this time,” he said. “This was a decision made for personal reasons. But don’t worry… Our contract with Nuclear Blast Records includes several albums, and there’s plenty of motivation to create new music!”
