Nightwish is celebrating 20 years of their career.
Celebrating their 20-year career, the Finnish band Nightwish came to Brazil for a single show as part of their Decades , where they promised to play songs that had never been performed or were rarely played before.
For the opening act, the Dutch band Delain brought songs from their latest studio album, Moonbathers , released in 2016, such as "The Glory And The Scum," "The Hurricane," as well as a guest appearance by Marco Hietala on "Sing To Me," and ending the short set with the famous "We Are The Others," a song inspired by Sophie Lancaster, a young woman who was murdered in England in 2007 for dressing in a gothic style.
Shortly after, Nightwish took to the stage, bringing back many memories and tears, starting the show with an instrumental version of the calm and sweet "Swanheart," a song from the 1998 album Oceanborn . The calm gave way to a trio of energetic and well-known songs for the audience: "End Of All Hope," "Wish I Had An Angel," and "10th Man Down." The audience's excitement was incredible, and it was reflected in the joy of Floor Jansen, Marco Hietala, Emppu Vuorinen, Tuomas Holopainen, Troy Donockley, and Kai Hahto .
Going through all the phases of the band, which is now on its third vocalist, the setlist included two songs from the band's latest album, Endless Forms Most Beautiful , released in 2015. "Élan" captivated the audience, while "The Greatest Show On Earth" brought even more emotion.
On a tour that promises to celebrate the band's career, classics were plentiful. With each older song, more excitement and tears flowed. "Gethsemane," "Sacrament Of Wilderness," "The Kinslayer," "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean," and "Slaying The Dreamer" further ignited the audience, who spared no effort in singing along to every chorus.
The debut album, Angels Fall First , released in 1997, also had its moment with "Elvenpath" and "The Carpenter," leaving longtime fans ecstatic, while in the powerful "I Want My Tears Back," Floor urged everyone to dance.
Two hours of a true spectacle, but it couldn't end without the ten-minute epic "Ghost Love Score," with the audience thrilled and singing every word.
A true spectacle filled with nostalgia, smiles, and tears.
