Nicko says Bruce's battle with cancer helped him stay sober.

Check the statement.

In an interview with The Drummer's Journal, Iron Maiden Nicko McBrain spoke about how Bruce Dickinson's battle with cancer helped him get sober. Check out McBrain's statement:

“We recorded the album [The Book Of Souls] with Bruce knowing something was wrong. But it wasn't until the end of the recordings that he went to the doctor. When the news came that he had cancer, I was worried about my friend. And it also made me think about my own situation, my own health. When he got the news that he was cancer-free, I looked at Bruce and thought, 'He's my friend, he went through a very difficult phase, he fought and beat cancer, and none of it was his fault.' And there I was, putting myself through a difficult phase too, but I was doing it to myself, with alcohol. Then I knew I needed to stop. I needed a lot of inspiration from Bruce. He made me realize how stupid I was being.”
