Chad Kroeger challenges Corey Taylor to write a hit song.
In an interview with the Swedish website Metal Covenant, Nickelback vocalist Chad Kroeger took a few jabs at Slipknot and Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor. When asked about Nickelback's musical diversity, Kroeger said:
"I can't think of another band that's as diverse as we are. I can't. I don't know if that's my pride or my ego talking ." The vocalist then asked the journalist to mention another band that is as versatile as Nickelback, and the interviewer cited Stone Sour.
"Yeah, but they're trying to be Nickelback. Corey Taylor has said some really bad things about me to the press. He talks about how easy it is to make a hit. Well, let's see, show me one. Write one. We're waiting. They're okay, but they're not as good as Nickelback. They're the lighter version of Nickelback."
He continued, then criticizing Slipknot: “They had to wear masks and keep jumping around. How good can your music be if you have to keep punching each other on stage, vomiting on your masks every night? Music shouldn't come with a gimmick, it should just be music. None of my favorite bands have those gimmicks. Then he got tired of wearing the mask, he wanted people to see his face, so he started Stone Sour.”
