The longing for mosh pits and crowd surfing may grow even stronger after the decree from the NGO Event Safety Alliance , which published a document guiding concert venues and their events in the post-pandemic era.
In the document, the institution cited practices carried out especially at rock and metal concerts, which include "punk circles" or mosh pits , and crowd surfing ; these activities, according to the Alliance, should be "absolutely prohibited."
“Customers will not be able to all stand at the front of the stage as they are accustomed to. Mosh and crowd surfing are violations of social distancing by nature and should be absolutely prohibited during this pandemic,” said the ESA.
In addition to the restriction, the NGO listed several other recommendations that should be followed at concerts when everything returns to normal, such as:
- Wash your hands every hour, and basically all the time.
- Wearing masks is mandatory.
- Sanitization of doorknobs, faucets, elevator buttons, telephones, water fountains, trash cans, computers, etc.
- Measure the temperature of all show attendees.
- Implementation of transparent barriers for the ticket counters.
- Employers are required to pay their employees if they are absent due to illness.
