Bassist apologizes to Canadian fans
Jason Newsted's band has been forced to cancel upcoming shows at the Gigantour festival in Canada. The bassist has been diagnosed with pneumonia and says he hopes to return to action next week.
Newsted wrote the following message on Twitter: “I was feeling a bit unwell during the last few Gigantour performances and decided to go to the doctor on my day off today. He diagnosed me with pneumonia! So, on doctor's orders, I'll be taking this week to recover. I apologize to my Canadian brothers and sisters in the regions I won't be performing in this week. I'll be focusing on surviving so we can keep Metal alive!!”
Festival organizer and Megadeth Dave Mustaine tweeted to Jason, hinting that the two might play together: “Jason, we heard you’re sick. I’m sad, and I’m sure the fans are too. Metal Militia when are you coming back? ”
Newsted released a preview yesterday of all the tracks from his upcoming album, "Heavy Metal Music," which will be released on August 5th. Check it out below:
