VIPER “Freedom of Speech” this Thursday, the 28th . Directed by Caio Cobra , director of Intervenção and Virando a Mesa (Netflix), the video was filmed at the Memorial da América Latina in São Paulo. The song was composed by guitarist and co-founder Felipe Machado and its theme is freedom of expression.
“Freedom of Speech” is the second single from Timeless , VIPER's first album of new material in 15 years. The first single, “Under the Sun” , marked the beginning of the group's new phase and also had a music video directed by Caio Cobra, with cinematography by João Leão .
The new music video features the current VIPER lineup, who also recorded the new album: Leandro Caçoilo (vocals), Felipe Machado and Kiko Shred (guitars), Pit Passarell (bass and vocals), and Guilherme Martin (drums). The album is produced by Maurício Cersosimo , who has worked with artists such as Paul McCartney and Avril Lavigne.
“Unlike 'Under The Sun', a classic metal album, 'Freedom of Speech' is a more hard rock metal track that showcases VIPER's eclecticism within the genre and proves, once again, that time passes and they remain undeniably relevant,” says director Caio Cobra.
“We wanted to work with director Caio Cobra and cinematographer João Leão again because we really liked the result of 'Under the Sun'. This time, we opted for a more contemporary setting, especially since the lyrics of 'Freedom of Speech' are very much related to the dystopian reality we live in,” says guitarist Felipe Machado, composer of the song.
"It's a song with a very catchy chorus, which shows how VIPER's new album will be made up of various styles," says bassist Pit Passarell.
"Once again, director Caio Cobra and his team have shown their usual perfection. I think he perfectly captured the energy of the music. VIPER is back, and in great style, my friends… Watch it!", says guitarist Kiko Shred.
“Caio Cobra captured the perfect image of VIPER's new phase. The song has a strong chorus and the video has the live action that is characteristic of the band's shows. Much more is yet to come! That's it: freedom of expression, anarchy and peace for all!”, says drummer Guilherme Martin.
"Director Caio Cobra managed to capture the energy of the song 'Freedom of Speech' with very tasteful takes," says vocalist Leandro Caçoilo.
VIPER is currently touring Brazil – in addition to new material, the shows also feature the band's classic repertoire, including "Living for the Night," "Rebel Maniac," and "To Live Again," among others.
