According to Dave Mustaine Megadeth album has already been mastered and is "very close" to being released.
In a video message posted on Cameo , Mustaine confirmed that the album The Sick, The Dying And The Dead has been sent to Megadeth's record label and that it will be "very soon" in the "talented hands" of fans. "We're very close to releasing The Sick, The Dying And The Dead . We were mixing and mastering, and the mastering finished yesterday," said the musician.
In a recent interview with American Songwriter , Mustaine confirmed that the album's title track is about the plague, but not focused exclusively on the pandemic; rather, it addresses the historical baggage of diseases that have plagued humanity throughout the years.
“The song itself is a historical journey about how the plague began and where it went, starting with rats on ships carrying disease and ending up on the coast of Sicily,” reflects the artist.
According to Dave, the songs on the new album came from riffs and songs he had kept archived for years. "A new song can be made from something I wrote when I was 15 or 55. If the riff is good, I'll keep it," he concludes.
