Dave Mustaine has finally revealed the release date for Megadeth ! The project is called The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead and will be released in the first half of 2022.

The band's frontman had already shared images of himself recording the final vocal takes for the album , and the band completely re-recorded the bass lines of David Ellefson , who was fired from the band in May of this year following a sexual scandal .

American Songwriter magazine , Mustaine announced the release of the successor to Dystopia (2016) for the Northern Hemisphere spring, which takes place between March 20 and June 21, 2022.

Contrary to what many fans may think, the title "The Sick, the Dying, and the Dead" is not a commentary on the coronavirus pandemic or Mustaine's recent battle with cancer.

In the conversation, the musician explained the concept behind the album's name. It's about "a historical journey" regarding the bubonic plague, responsible for a devastating epidemic that ravaged Europe and Asia in the 14th century. The album will discuss "how the plague began and how it progressed," starting with rats infected with the disease on ships and reaching land in Cilicia.

The album was built around some old riff ideas, as Mustaine explained. “Many of these riffs have been saved over time. A whole new song can be made from something I wrote when I was 15 or 55. If it’s a good riff, I’ll keep it,” he said.
