Guns N' Roses returned to the stage after a 16-month hiatus. On tour in North America, the band performed "Absurd" for the first time, announced as a "new" song, this Tuesday, the 3rd, during their show in Boston, United States.
Right after the cover of The Stooges with Duff McKagan on vocals, Axl Rose announced the unreleased track on the setlist. "Some of you may have heard this under another name, but it's really absurd for us to try this," the frontman said to introduce the new song (via Rolling Stone ). "You heard it here first… A new Guns N' Roses song."
This is a new version of “Silkworms”, a rare track never officially released in the band's discography, created during the sessions for the album Chinese Democracy (2008), credited to Rose, Dizzy Reed and Chris Pitman, found on YouTube as part of the album 10 Years of Democracy , credited to the Canadian artist Aien .
According to Ultimate Classic Rock , the original version was performed live at some shows in 2001. Now without the electronic elements and Slash , "Absurd" may be the first batch of unreleased material from the band for their next album.
