An Israeli company called Noveto Systems has developed a device that promises to transmit music to people's heads without any type of headphones.

Associated Press article , the SoundBeamer 1.0 can send 3D sounds directly to the listener without a speaker, directing them to just one person. Therefore, the user feels as if the music is "inside their ears, in front of and behind them."

The technology behind the device uses a module to locate a listener's ears and send out ultrasonic waves that create a bubble surrounding only that listener's ears. The journalists responsible for the AP story tested the technology and, when playing nature sounds, said they felt immersed in a landscape, and confirmed they didn't hear any noise from a video game being played nearby.
