Avantasia 's new album is almost finished. Tobias Sammet is already listening to the final mastering of the project and has updated fans on the sound of the successor to Moonglow (2019).

As with many other artists who recorded albums during the pandemic, the extra time to take care of every detail seems to have benefited the final result of the project's ninth studio album. "I'm so happy with this album. Never before have I had two years to work on an album without any interruptions, making many small changes again," the musician said.

According to guitarist Sascha Paeth , who was responsible for mastering the album alongside Michael “Miro” Rodenberg , its sound is reminiscent of some of Avantasia's earlier work, as well as Edguy .

“It’s the best of the old and the new, the best of both worlds without being an intentional leap back to the roots. I just did a lot of things like on previous albums,” continued Sammet, who describes the album as “a work of art.”

Although no release date or official title has been announced, a first taste of a new song should be shared soon, as promised by the project's creator.
