Nervosa has just released the music video for "Smashing Heads," their new single celebrating 15 years in the extreme metal scene. Following the success of the album Jailbreak , the Brazilian/Greek group showcases their evolution and announces a phase of renewal before their highly anticipated next album.

According to the band, “Smashing Heads” represents a summary of everything they have experienced so far. Besides being a thank you to their fans, the single serves as a milestone marking the closing of a cycle: “This special track celebrates our anniversary and prepares the ground for a new chapter,” the members state.

The song's theme addresses obsession and loss of control over intense feelings. Each person deals with this differently, something that is portrayed in the music video, filmed in the basement of the band's studio. Actress Gabriela, a member of the group, actively participated in both the conception and acting in the video.

Change and overcoming

The release comes on the heels of important transformations within Nervosa. With Jailbreak , founder Prika Amaral took on lead vocals for the first time . The challenge was significant, but, as she herself recounts, the experience renewed her passion for music: “I’ve always been a guitarist and only did backing vocals. I needed to learn new techniques and take better care of my voice, with the help of Mayara Puertas, a friend I admire very much,” says Prika.

Furthermore, Prika points out that composing the vocal lines and lyrics brought a new energy to the band, resulting in greater variety and creativity in the music: “Each track demanded something different. I learned a lot in this process, and I'm still evolving with each show.”

Promising future

Nervosa promises new things soon, with a new album on the way and other unreleased songs. For fans, "Smashing Heads" is just the beginning of an even bolder and more intense phase for the band.
