by Rush drummer Neil Peart will be available for sale next May and is already in pre-release on the band's official website. Published by Insight Editions, with whom Neil had previously worked on another book, the title Silver Silvers: Sports Cars of the Sixties tells the story of a great passion in Neil's life: his collection of rare and important sports cars from the 1960s.
Neil Peart was a long-time writer and had published more than five books before his death in January 2020 due to cancer. In his works, Peart documented various experiences from his life, including not only music, but also his long motorcycle and bicycle trips, as well as collaborating on the book Clockwork Angels with author Kevin J. Anderson.
Last Saturday, the 27th, Rush's official Instagram profile shared a carousel with an image of Neil in one of his classic cars and a second image with the cover of his new book. The post's caption provides a short summary of the work, accompanied by an important quote from Peart, who says: “The title Silver Surfers for my car collection occurred to me while driving my DB5 up and down the Pacific Coast Highway. Because it felt right to me, I guess – the idea that I was just one of the surfers…”
Neil Peart's collection of classic cars went up for auction in 2021 (via Choose The Moon ) in Pebble Beach, California, and included great classics such as a 1970 Lamborghini Miura, a 1965 Maserati Mistral Spider, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette, and a 1964 Shelby Cobra, the only black one among the silver cars. All valued at millions of euros and lovingly described by Peart in his new book.
