The long-awaited meeting between Nandi Bushell and Dave Grohl finally happened! The 11-year-old girl was invited to join the Foo Fighters this Thursday, the 27th, and played drums during "Everlong".

The friendship between Grohl and the young girl began during quarantine , when the former Nirvana drummer was challenged by Nandi online in August 2020. After responding to the challenge, which lasted three rounds and ended with the girl as the winner, they became friends and even exchanged songs as gifts – all virtually.

“One day, all my friends were texting me to see if I’d seen it? I clicked the link and saw someone challenging me to a drumming contest. I thought, ‘Cool, huh?’ and let it go. But my friends said, ‘No, man, you need to enter the competition. This is serious. It’s a drumming challenge,’” the musician told the audience to introduce the special guest (via Consequence of Sound ). “So I replied and said okay, I’ll go easy on her. Then she comes back and kicks my ass in front of the whole world! In the third round, I do something else, she comes back and beats me again!”

The young prodigy filled in for Taylor Hawkins for the entire song and stayed on stage to say goodbye with the band. The Foo Fighters drummer even gave Nandi some tips on how to throw drumsticks to the audience at the end.
