Nandi Bushell , a prodigy drummer, participated in a session at Drumeo , and one of the challenges was to play the drums on "Holy Diver" by the band Dio .
The thing is, Nandi had never heard the song before and had to create her own version. As part of the "For The First Time" segment, she listened to the track without the original drums and then played it her own way.
She had previously participated in the program with the song "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister . However, "Holy Diver" demanded more from the drummer.
Nandi added a series of fills to her version, justifying it by saying she has a Neil Peart . Although the final attempt was much softer, she sounds incredibly exhausted when she finishes playing.
Upon hearing the original song, with Vinny Appice on drums, Nandi realized it went a little beyond what was necessary. On her Instagram profile, she posted about her participation in Drumeo, and wrote in part of the caption:
“I could have played it safe, but that’s not me. I like to challenge myself, even if it means I don’t always get it right. That’s how I learn. That’s how I grow. Strive, make mistakes, and enjoy the process.”
