After releasing the single “In Stride” , Myles Kennedy shared yesterday, the 15th, the video for the title track of his new album, The Ides Of March , which will be released on May 14th via Napalm Records.
The release date of the single was no coincidence, coinciding with the title, which refers to the Ides of March, one of the three divisions of the months in the Roman calendar. March 15th of the year 44 BC, in particular, is forever marked as the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated by Brutus.
“[The song was] written quickly one night after a few drinks; it was an attempt to summarize what so many of us felt during the beginning of the pandemic,” Kennedy says about the song. “We were bored, frustrated, and self-medicating to avoid going crazy. What I like about the narrative is that it pushes the idea that if everything is going to hell, at least try to do it in a celebratory way.”
