"It's very different from anything I've ever done."
The Alter Bridge frontman announced that he will release his first solo album in 2018.
Titled Year Of The Tiger, the album will feature twelve unreleased tracks from the musician and will be released by the Austrian label Napalm Records.
In a recent interview with Metal Wani, Myles revealed that his album will tell his story and that of his family. “It will basically tell a story from beginning to end. It will talk about my father's death when I was a child and what happened afterwards to me, my mother, and my brother – it will tell that story. It's a concept album from start to finish .
Year Of The Tiger is actually the second album Myles has ever composed. In 2009, the musician announced that he had material for a full album, and seven years later he even produced and mixed the tracks, but he decided not to proceed with the project because he believed it wasn't the right time or the right songs to debut his solo career.
Now, Kennedy has a new batch of songs and reveals that he sought a different path for the album. “ It will have a musicality based on the blues (...). It has a lot of mandolin and even a banjo. It's very different from everything I've done before.”
Year Of The Tiger will feature a guest appearance by The Mayfield Four drummer Zia Uddin, a band that Myles has always admired.
Alter Bridge is currently on tour promoting their 2016 album , The Last Hero , and the band members hope to focus on their solo projects during 2018.
