In an interview with Linea Rock , Myles Kennedy talked a bit about his experience playing with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin .
At the time, in 2008, Myles was invited to audition to replace Robert Plant on a possible Led Zeppelin reunion tour that ultimately never happened.
Regarding the chance to play with his idols, Myles Kennedy said: “For me, it was a great opportunity just to be in the same room as the guys who showed me everything I know. Playing music was wonderful, but the best part was being able to say to them, 'Look, I don't know if I'll be here tomorrow or not, but thank you. Thank you for creating the foundation for everything we do.' And they just looked at me and said, 'That's great!' They were kind, but they probably hear that all the time.”
Myles also spoke about two of the songs he played with Page and Jones during the audition period. “I think two moments that stand out were playing 'No Quarter,' which was one of my favorites, and when I came back later that year, we played 'The Rain Song,' and that was something I’ll never forget,” he recounted. “I got goosebumps all over, my eyes watered a little, and I kind of turned my back and thought, 'Don’t let them see you get emotional.'”
