In an interview with Westword, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine shared his theory on why he's a controversial figure in metal. When asked why he's 'disregarded' on some music websites, Mustaine said:
Dave Mustaine speaks about the popularity of Metal:
“I think a lot of it comes from a long time ago, from my departure from Metallica. A lot of people took sides in the fight and they don't even know why they're choosing one side. I have nothing against Metallica fans. I've been in both bands. I like Lars and James and, despite what many say, I think Kirk is a good guitarist. In the beginning, when I was still resentful, there were a lot of words exchanged. They kept giving justifications for firing me and I kept saying they were wrong. And this was constantly perpetuated. But it's nothing anymore. I don't hold any grudges against them. We are completely different bands.”
