Bruno Covas passed away on the morning of Sunday the 16th, at the age of 41, after a long battle with cancer. The loss of the mayor of São Paulo generated widespread grief across the internet, including among fans and musicians of rock and metal, genres of which Covas was always a fan.

Sepultura one of the bands to share a message in tribute to Bruno Covas, saying the following: “We regret the death of our friend and Mayor of the City of São Paulo, Bruno Covas. To his family and friends, our deepest condolences and solidarity. Rest in peace.”

Angra also published a tribute to the former mayor, saying: “After a long battle with cancer, Bruno Covas, mayor of São Paulo, has died. During his term, he instituted the Municipal Metal Day, celebrated on June 8th, in honor of André Matos . We mourn the loss of Bruno Covas and wish strength to his family, friends, and admirers.”

Yesterday, the 15th, when Covas's worsening condition was announced, Felipe Machado , from VIPER , shared on his social media an image of the celebration that took place in honor of Municipal Metal Day, which, since 2019, thanks to Bruno Covas, takes place on June 8th, the day of Andre Matos's death.
