Brazil ranked 4th among countries that pirate the most music

According to the Annual Piracy Report from Muso , a British company that collects piracy data in the entertainment sector, piracy grew by 14.7% in 2017 compared to the previous year, with approximately 73.9 billion visits to music piracy websites worldwide.

Piracy was most common in the United States, with 27.9 billion visits to illegal music websites, followed by Russia (20.6 billion), India (17 billion), Brazil (12.7 billion), and Turkey (11.9 billion).

The most popular form of piracy is television, followed by music and film.

“It was believed that the rise in popularity of on-demand services like Netflix and Spotify solved piracy, but that theory simply hasn’t been borne out,” said Muso co-founder Andy Chatterly, “Our data suggests that piracy is more popular than ever.”
