Taylor Hawkins , the late drummer for the Foo Fighters , apparently had a favorite song from the band to play live – and it's not "Aurora," as many believe.
During a performance at the Dead Famous bar in Newquay, England [via Loudwire ], Shane Hawkins , his son, made a brief comment before the song that was about to be played: “People say that 'Aurora' was his favorite, but that's a lie.”
According to the young prodigy, “Low,” from the album One by One (2002), was his father’s favorite song to play at Foo Fighters shows. He also admitted that the answer wasn’t really that obvious – after all, the song is rarely included in the band’s setlists due to its complexity. As Shane himself said: “ Dave [ Grohl ] let him play that song with them, but it’s a fucking hard song to do.”
Shane Hawkins then played the song on drums during the performance. Check out the video below:
Taylor Hawkins' son will join the band Chevy Metal for a summer tour.
In 2013, Taylor Hawkins founded a band to play covers of classic rock songs, called Chevy Metal. It consists of Dave Grohl (vocals), Mick Murphy (guitar), and Wiley Hodgen (bass).
At 18 years old, Shane Hawkins will celebrate his father's legacy by taking over the drums on the band's summer tour, which begins in July. The new Chevy Metal lineup also brings back Wiley Hodgen and Mick Murphy to reprise their roles from the original formation.
