Muse surprises with heaviness and dark music video in “Won't Stand Down”

This single is the band's first release since 'Simulation Theory'

Muse created high expectations for "Won't Stand Down" by releasing a metal snippet of the song in December – and delivered a surprising result! The band's first single since Simulation Theory (2018) arrived this Thursday, the 13th, with a dark music video.

Without abandoning the band's musical DNA, with electronic elements, "Won't Stand Down" brings a heaviness that hasn't appeared in the group's tracks for a long time, justifying the comparisons to Korn made by the international press even before its release. If the beginning seems to flirt with a rhythm similar to reggae, the song soon reveals its true facet as it approaches the chorus.

In the video, lead singer Matt Bellamy appears terrifying, being taken in a wheelchair to a kind of dark experiment where it's hard to tell if he's a victim or some kind of cult leader, mentally controlling an army before undergoing a bizarre transformation.
