Muse is working on new music, possibly for the successor to the album Simulation Theory (2018). If a snippet of an unreleased track shared by frontman Matt Bellamy indicates anything, the band will likely flirt with metal on the new album.
The musician held a live stream on social media during the Christmas holiday and took the opportunity to give fans a snippet of a new song from the band, whose name has not yet been revealed.
Dubbed "Won't Stand Down" by fans because of a line in the lyrics, the track features a surprisingly heavy breakdown after a more characteristic section of the group's sound. The vocalist was driving during the live stream and showed his son headbanging intensely to the new song.
The excerpt, just under a minute long, seems to have pleased fans and the metal community in general, with Loudwire comparing the new song to Korn thanks to its "heavy bass breakdown and brutal, raw vocals." Listen to the excerpt below.
