Motörhead will receive a tribute album honoring the band's relationship with punk. Titled Killed By Deaf – A Punk Tribute To Motörhead , the album is scheduled for release on October 31st by BMG .
The album features 14 Motörhead tracks performed by some of the genre's leading names, such as Rancid , Pennywise , Lagwagon , GBH , The Bronx , Fear , and Slaughterhouse .
The first single is a previously unreleased recording of “Neat, Neat, Neat” by Motörhead and The Damned , officially released last Wednesday, the 10th. The track, originally recorded in 2002 between the artists, had never been officially released until now.
In an old quote shared in a press release, Lemmy said about the band's connection to the punk scene [via Consequence ]: “The punks loved us. The only reason we weren't in that group was because we had long hair, so obviously we must be heavy metal. That was the thinking. But a lot of young people heard us without seeing a picture, so they thought we were a punk band.”
