If Motörhead wins the public vote, no living member will be honored at the event. According to the ceremony's rules, only artists who debuted their work 25 years before the Hall of Fame induction can be nominated, which means that only members of the original lineup can participate.
As a result, guitarist Phil Campbell and drummer Mikkey Dee would not be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band. Upon winning, only Lemmy Kilmister , Phil "Philty Animal" Taylor , and "Fast" Eddie Clarke , all deceased, would be honored.
The situation caused discomfort among fans and the band members themselves. Dee spoke to Billboard and commented: “This is completely wrong, I would say, and I know Phil will be quite disappointed too. We carried the flag for 25 years together, and we made Motörhead what it was.”
"The original band only lasted a few years. They started it, but as Lemmy himself said, it wouldn't have lasted another six months with that lineup. I don't think we'd even be where we are today without the 25 years we spent playing shows around the world."
