Rock legends Mötley Crüe announced this Friday, the 26th, a Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Theatre Of Pain , with a release date set for November 14th via BMG. The announcement was accompanied by a previously unreleased live version of “Smokin' In The Boys Room”. Listen here.
Released in June 1985, Theatre of Pain marked a bold new chapter for Mötley Crüe – stylistically fearless, musically explosive, and unabashedly glam street. Fueled by the attitude of “Smokin’ In The Boys Room” and the anthemic power of “Home Sweet Home,” the band’s third studio album broke new ground without abandoning its hard rock roots.
This groundbreaking album set the standard for music and style for many bands that came after, while Crüe continued to evolve and reinvent their sound and image with each release. Theatre Of Pain was the group's first LP to enter the US Top 10, reaching number 6, and became a global success. Today, the album is certified 4X Platinum by the RIAA in the US and 3X Platinum in Canada.
The 40th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set is a must-have for fans and collectors, featuring redesigned artwork, the remastered album on colored vinyl, a previously unreleased 1985 Long Beach concert (2LP), rare demo recordings (1LP), and a 76-page hardcover book filled with never-before-seen photos and memories from the Theatre Of Pain . A definitive record that captures the raw energy and spirit of a band at its peak — available for a limited time only.
In addition to the limited-edition Deluxe Box Set, Theatre Of Pain 40th Anniversary will also be available in standard audio, Dolby Atmos audio, and various physical configurations, including standard CD and LP, as well as exclusive CD and LP versions at Walmart, an exclusive LP for independent stores, an exclusive LP for Amazon, and an exclusive LP for Urban Outfitters. A limited-edition cassette of Theatre Of Pain 40th Anniversary will also be released exclusively at Crüeseum .
Fans will be able to visit the Crüeseum Theatre of Pain collection , which features never-before-seen footage of backstage moments, costumes worn on tour, backstage scripts, striking live photos and much more from Mötley Crüe's 1985 classic.
