Mötley Crue 's journey on the big screen, The Dirt , was not well received by critics, as shown by the Rotten Tomatoes . Besides scoring only 36% approval from critics, another person didn't like what they saw very much: former vocalist John Corabi .

Corabi replaced vocalist Vince Neil in 1992 when Neil was dismissed from the band due to personal differences. The singer said he didn't like how he was portrayed in the film, in which he is played by Anthony Vincent Valbiro , and said he would have preferred to have been left out of the film, since his character only appears for "20 seconds".

“The way they portrayed me was pathetic,” he commented. “They made it seem like I was really angry when [the guys in the band] basically walk into a school gym and find about eight people. Sorry, but regardless of how ticket sales were when I was in Mötley Crüe, they were never that bad.”

“I kind of took it as a sarcastic compliment, but it wasn’t even a compliment; it was an insult. I was insulted. And you know what? If you’re going to be idiots about it, whoever chose to put that in the movie… In the end, I didn’t like it,” he concluded.
