Mötley Crüe released a cover of Beastie Boys as part of the announcement of their new EP Cancelled . Listen below.

Cancelled will be the first project featuring songs with new guitarist John 5, who replaced Mick Mars . The first song with John 5, "Dogs of War," was released in April of this year. The EP will be released on October 4th and is already available for pre-order.

Speaking about the title track of the EP, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee explained to Bill Maher last year that the band felt inspired to write a song called “Cancelled” specifically because it had never happened to them.

“There was an article that said, ‘How come Mötley Crüe never got cancelled?’ And we thought, ‘Damn, we have to write a song about this because we never got cancelled,’” Lee said on the Club Random . “We sneaked under the fence, wherever it was, where we got away with murder.”

Bassist Nikki Sixx adopted a similar defiant tone when discussing “Dogs of War” in a recent conversation with UCR . “The funniest thing is that in our lives, in general, it feels like everyone has always tried to kill us, kill our careers, so it’s funny in the video that you can’t kill us,” he said. “Even when we die, we end up sniffing our own ashes and coming back.”
