Mötley Crüe has accused the TV series Breaking the Band of lying about the story behind the band's breakup. According to posts on the members' social media, everything shown in the first episode of the second season is a lie.
Vince Neil posted on Instagram saying that the show is nothing more than "memoirs of manager Doug Thaler who can't remember that he was the one who broke up the band." The vocalist didn't like that the series portrays him as the one to blame for the group's end when he decided to focus on his race car career.
Nikki Sixx also spoke about the matter, claiming that the series was produced without authorization from the band or any of its members, and threatened to take legal action against the producers.
Breaking the Band premiered in 2018 and each episode features supposedly true details of how and why some of the most iconic bands in music broke up. Some of the groups that appeared in the series were The Beatles, Van Halen , and The Eagles.
