The performance featured local artists on vocals, replacing the late Andrew Wood

The remaining members of the grunge band Mother Love Bone reunited last Saturday, the 5th, to perform at an event organized by SMASH (Seattle Musicians Access to Sustainable Healthcare), which aims to help independent musicians in the region access quality education and healthcare.

The performance was the first in eight years and featured Jeff Ament , Stone Gossard — both members of Pearl JamBruce Fairweather , and Greg Gilmore to pay tribute to the group's frontman, Andrew Wood . The vocalist passed away a few days before the release of the band's debut album, Apple , in 1990, after suffering a heroin overdose.

“It’s incredible for all of us to see how much you still care about these songs,” said Gossard before starting the short set which featured four tracks from the band, “Man of Golden Words”, “Bone China”, “Stargazer” and “Stardog Champion”, and a cover of Argent’s “Hold Your Head Up”. On vocals, Shawn Smith (Pigeonhead) and Ohm Johari (Hell’s Belles), both local artists, filled in for Wood.

This is Mother Love Bone's second reunion since their breakup. The first was in 2010, the year that marked two decades since the death of their bandmate Andrew Wood.
