Morrissey declines invitation to perform at far-right party event.

In an official statement, the musician thanks the organizers for the invitation and says he is "apolitical."

Morrissey declined an invitation to perform at the far-right Reform UK party conference. The news was revealed through an update on the artist's official website. According to the brief note, the musician "politely declined" the invitation and said he is "apolitical."

The note, posted last Friday, September 5th, says:

“Morrissey politely declined the invitation for 'He and His Band' to perform at this week's Reform Conference in Birmingham. Morrissey is apolitical and has never been affiliated with a political party—nor voted—in his entire life. He appreciates the invitation.”.

However, his perceived closeness to the far right made headlines back in 2016, when
the musician hailed the Brexit result as "magnificent" and called Nigel Farage , of the far-right Reform UK party, a "liberal educator".
