Moonspell didn't put on the show they wanted at São Paulo Metal Fest, but they promise to return.

Last Friday night, the 14th, Carioca Club hosted the first edition of São Paulo Metal Fest , a festival conceived and produced by IDL Entertainment.

With the Portuguese band Moonspell , the festival also featured the bands Beyond Creation (Canada), Cynic (USA), Weight Of Emptiness (Chile), and the Brazilian bands New Democracy and Hatefulmurder in the lineup.

The evening began promptly at 6:30 PM with the Minas Gerais band New Democracy, continuing until the Cynic show. Led by Paul Masvidal , the American band played their 1993 album Focus , plus six classics from their 30-year career.

But the long set caused a delay for the band Moonspell, who had to remove three songs from their setlist – “Vampiria”, “Mephisto” and their version of “Lanterna dos Afogados” (Paralamas do Sucesso). 

Vocalist Fernando Ribeiro emphasized that, above all, there must be respect between bands, which was not the case with the band Cynic. Visibly upset, Fernando promised to return to São Paulo and play the songs that were left out, as well as others.

The Portuguese band Moonspell had been in Brazil since the beginning of April with a series of shows on their 30th-anniversary tour, marking the band's return to the country after five years. See the review of the Porto Alegre show here .
