Montanee releases “Gray”, a single previewing his new EP.

A band from Rio de Janeiro cites influences from bands like Foo Fighters, Royal Blood, and Nothing But Thieves.

The band Montanee released this Friday, the 26th, the first sample of their new project. The single “Gray” anticipates the new EP from the Rio de Janeiro-based alternative rock group.

The song will be part of the EP Recalling Dreams , which marks a new, more ambitious and mature phase for the band. For the first time, Montanee did not produce their own EP independently: the new project was done with Joel Hamilton , a producer who has worked with names like The Black Keys , Paul McCartney , Norah Jones and Highly Suspect , and who has received seven Grammy nominations.

Gray's recording and the rest of the EP took place in New York, at Joel's studio: "He knew how to elevate the band's compositions and get the best out of every moment of the songs," says vocalist and guitarist Felipe Areias . "In addition, the city, the studio, and the people involved made the recording an unforgettable experience for the band."

The lyrics of “Gray” describe a dream vocalist Felipe had about a past relationship. This theme of dreams and relationships informed the rest of the EP, serving as the common thread running through Recalling Dreams .

The EP will be released in the second half of 2024, and will feature collaborations with artists such as Rodrigo Suricato ( Barão Vermelho ) and Tyler Bryant ( Tyler Bryant and the Shakedown ).

Montanee is formed by Felipe Areias, Teo Kligerman and Raphael Moraes .
