The Seventh Day Mass for Andre Matos took place today at the Church of Our Lady of Consolation
Today, the Seventh Day Mass was held for Andre Matos , vocalist of Angra, Shaman, and Viper, who passed away last Saturday.
Father José Roberto from the Church of Our Lady of Consolation welcomed the fans and repeatedly mentioned the importance of Andre Matos .
"Only a special person who has done good could unite heavy metal and classical music in the way that Andre did," said the priest during the mass.
The priest also mentioned that he was not familiar with Andre's work, but that this week he watched several videos and listened to music and realized how beloved Andre was.
"How did he manage to go to so many places, do so many things, and not lose himself?" he said. The priest spoke for more than 20 minutes about Andre, comforting the fans.
"He wanted you to remember him as he was. As he was. At the peak of his life. At 47 years old. With his family. With his fans. Andre was someone who sang and charmed."
Felipe Machado, guitarist for Viper, gave an emotional speech, crying and thanking Andre's mother and brother, and asked everyone to sing Viper's "Living For The Night".
Rafael Bittencourt also played "Carry On," and after Shaman's "Fairy Tale," everyone applauded at the request of the priest, who instructed the fans to make noise in the church.
