Brazil's new Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, Silvio Almeida , once had a rap metal band. In addition to his powerful speech at President Lula about valuing and respecting minorities, this musical discovery gained prominence on social media. Soon after, he talked about the band Delito , which he was part of: “I was the guitarist in the band. Tuca, the bassist from ' Velhas Virgens ', played in the band with me. We had our own compositions and some covers of 'Racionais' and ' Rage Against the Machine '.”
Recently, the current Minister of Human Rights shared a video on Instagram showing off his skills playing Djavan , as well as asking to go on tour with the singer. The post ended up garnering praise from artists such as Black Pantera , Teresa Cristina , and others.
Music isn't the professor and minister's only passion. Almeida is also interested in comic books and even records videos on YouTube relating comics to politics.
