In an interview on the show The Noite , Isabella Aglio , daughter of bassist Mingau from the band Ultraje a Rigor , gave updates on her father's health. Mingau was shot in the head in September in Rio de Janeiro while driving through Paraty on his way to São Paulo.

According to Isabella, the musician is well and awake, responding to physical stimuli, but is still unable to speak. He underwent a tracheostomy procedure, where an opening is made in the patient's trachea through a tube that serves to deliver air to the lungs.

“He’s okay. It’s a miracle. We can definitely say it’s a miracle, but of course it was a very big trauma. We need to be patient,” commented the young woman (transcription via Radio Rock ).

“He has a tracheostomy,” she explains. “But he can see, he follows things with his eyes, he opened his eyes a while ago and already has movement in his extremities, there’s even a video of him moving his feet, I tickled him and he reacted, he moved. He has periods of consciousness and periods of not.”.

According to Isabella, Mingau has also expressed emotions and cried while listening to an audio recording of his mother's voice and a song by his band, Vega . The musician is expected to leave the ICU soon and be transferred to a transitional care clinic, where he will receive intensive treatment with physiotherapy and speech therapy.

To cover the high medical expenses of the bassist, Mingau's family is asking for contributions through a crowdfunding campaign. The cost of the two surgeries the artist underwent alone amounts to almost 320,000 reais.

Any additional funds raised will be used for Mingau's third surgery to have a prosthesis implanted, which should take place in 4 to 6 months. So far, over 163,000 reais have been raised.
