Lead singer talks about new album
In an interview with Ghost Cult magazine, Kreator frontman Mille Petrozza was asked how the band managed to stay relevant in the metal scene for so many years. Petrozza said:
“That’s a good question. I think it’s simply about trying to do your best all the time. Besides that, we need to honor the name. If you’re in Kreator and you stop being creative, what’s the point? I know it sounds kind of cheesy, but it’s true. Either we honor the name and what it stands for, or there’s no reason to release new music anymore. Luckily, we’ve had good members come and go over the years to keep the creativity flowing. And I feel like we’re stronger than ever right now. I feel like you can hear that on the new album, and that makes it very special to me.”
Petrozza was also asked about the focus of the album's lyrics, which deal with violence:
“It’s interesting and frightening to look at the world right now. We hear about a new tragedy every day, and the ugliness of the world seems to outweigh its beauty. All we can do is stay optimistic and cherish the good times we’ve had. I truly believe that everything will be alright, even in these confusing times we live in. We need to stay positive and promote the beautiful things. For Kreator, we promote music, peace, the idea of a healthy lifestyle. I think that’s the most we can do as a band. We have a voice and we should use it for good things, to help people escape what’s happening around them. I’m very proud to say that we’ve been doing this for over 30 years.”
Kreator will release their new album “Gods Of Violence” on January 27th. The album will have 11 tracks and was produced by Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with Opeth and Amon Amarth.
