It's undeniable that Miley Cyrus has dedicated herself to proving that she is one of the most remarkable young voices in rock today.
After releasing an album with numerous references to 80s rock , the pop singer has already impressed with covers of Blondie and Hole and has even sung alongside Metallica . Her innate talent for the musical style in question has already earned praise from Elton John , who considers her "the greatest rock vocalist in the world".
Unfortunately, Miley's career didn't start out that way, and in an appearance on Rolling Stone 's Musicians on Musicians , the artist spoke with country singer Mickey Guyton about how her past on the Disney Channel interfered with her love for rock and the course of her career.
“I feel like I was born to make rock music,” he says. “It wasn’t something that was going to open doors for me easily because of my background. Coming from a children’s audience, being on a TV show, wearing a wig – you wouldn’t imagine that someone like that would be playing with Metallica.”
The singer also stated that she is willing to let this period of musical transition be "uncomfortable," but she showed herself motivated to move forward: "The reward of having your new album in stores and people singing the songs you created... There's nothing that compares to that."
