The band announced it on Facebook.

The Scorpions announced today that Mikkey Dee, who has been filling in for James Kottak on drums, is now an official member of the band. The Scorpions released the following statement:

"We want to thank James for so many years of being part of the band, and for his friendship. We understand and respect the time he needs to go through this healing process."

After our incredible shows in the US, Europe, and Asia, we found a fantastic drummer in Mikkey Dee. He brings a new energy to the band, and we're excited for a new era together.”

Drummer Mikkey Dee, formerly of Motörhead, also posted a statement on social media:

“I feel truly honored and lucky to continue playing drums at this level. I grew up listening to Scorpions and have always loved the band. We’re longtime friends, so traveling and playing with Klaus, Rudolf, Matthias, and Pawel has been a lot of fun, and the whole crew is very professional. The Scorpions fans have been very welcoming, and it’s been amazing to meet so many Motörhead fans at these shows.”

I had almost 25 incredible years with my friends and brothers Lemmy and Phil in Motörhead, who will always be the main support of my career. Lemmy always had a lot of respect for Scorpions for being a real rock band and I'm sure he's up there proud that I'm still playing, and with a very classy band.”

James Kottak left the Scorpions to deal with alcohol abuse issues.
