The event takes place on October 27th

Mike Shinoda spoke in an interview about Linkin Park's first show without their frontman Chester Bennington, which will take place at the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.

The event, which will be held as a tribute to the singer, will donate the money raised to the organization Music For Relief , which has a fund in Chester's memory called One More Light .

Shinoda said it was a difficult decision to go on stage without his colleague and friend, but he says producer Rick Rubin convinced him it was the right thing to do.

“He said, ‘The fans want to see them. Not because they want a show, but because it will be a cathartic experience that needs to happen’ (…) And I thought about that, and I know that for some band members it will be harder to go on stage without Chester than for others, but I speak for everyone when I say that it’s definitely something we want to do. We feel it’s the right way to celebrate him.”

The musician also commented on the loss, “I know the circumstances of his death are heavy, but that darkness he carried was always there and was part of the package, but it was also what made him unique and special because he used it to create such positive things. (…) When he arrived, he brought something positive, funny and energetic, and we want the show to be like that (…) It will be a rollercoaster of emotions. But when we talk about it and focus on the show, we are celebrating life.”
