Mike Shinoda and Dave Grohl

Mike Shinoda talks about Dave Grohl's influence after Chester Bennington's death.

The musician explained that he was inspired by how Grohl dealt with Kurt Cobain's death

Mike Shinoda revealed how Dave Grohl helped him cope with the death of his friend and bandmate Chester Bennington.

In an interview with the American radio station Alt 98.7, Shinoda confessed how he learned to cope with the tragedy of losing Bennington: “In recent months I have spoken quite a bit with people who have also lost someone… Losing your grandfather when you are a child is different from losing one of your friends or someone who is the same age as you or younger. It’s something different.”

“I realized I’m not invincible (…) I know I won’t make all the right decisions. I’m sure I’ll make mistakes and I’m okay with that ,” he said.

Next, Shinoda revealed that Dave Grohl inspired him during this process: “If I’m on the other side of that story and I see someone like Dave Grohl after Nirvana — seeing him move on, rise again and create the Foo Fighters from nothing. That’s a moment where you think, ‘This is possible,’ it seems heroic.”

Mike Shinoda is now preparing to release his first solo album, Post Traumatic . The album comes out on July 15th, and you can listen to some tracks from the work by clicking here.
