Mike Portnoy , drummer for Dream Theater , revealed what his favorite album of 2025 is so far. The musician stated that it's by the French band Igorrr – pseudonym of Gautier Serre – which mixes death metal with chamber music.
In an interview on The Eddie Trunk Podcast , Portnoy stated that he has been listening to the material quite a bit, which he considers "sensational." Furthermore, the musician joked that the podcast host, Eddie Trunk , would probably hate listening to the group.
“My favorite album of the year is from a band called Igorrr , from France. It sounds really eclectic, like death metal mixed with chamber music, and it’s very strange. Eddie, you’d probably hate it, but it’s amazing. It’s sensational material. So I’ve been listening to it a lot,” he commented [transcription via Loudwire ].
