Last Sunday, the 20th, Dream Theater played their first show after announcing the return of drummer Mike Portnoy , who had left the band in August 2010.

Held in England, at the O2 Arena in London, the show is part of the tour celebrating Dream Theater's 40-year career. On social media, the band thanked fans for their presence in this new phase of their career.

"A very special moment in Dream Theater's history was captured tonight, thank you London!", he wrote.

The progressive metal quintet performed 18 songs divided into two acts and an encore. Those in attendance were treated to performances of classics like "Pull Me Under," live rarities such as "Vacant," "Stream Of Consciousness," and "Hollow Years," and the live debut of "Night Terror."

During the performance, vocalist James LaBrie commented on Portnoy's return.

"Tonight is a big occasion. You may have recognized someone on stage. It's surreal to have Mike Portnoy back!"

Before the show, the drummer had posted a photo of the empty O2 Arena on social media with the caption: "The next chapter begins tonight."

Recorded in the studio by Mike Mangini, the tracks "Barstool Warrior" and "This Is The Life" were performed by Portnoy for the first time at yesterday's show.

Dream Theater in Brazil

In December, Dream Theater will arrive in Brazil to perform five shows as part of their 40th Anniversary Tour 2024-2025 .

Five cities will host the tour celebrating the band's four decades: Belo Horizonte (December 10), Rio de Janeiro (December 13), São Paulo (December 15), Curitiba (December 16), and Porto Alegre (December 17).
